The Fondation Hubert Looser respects your privacy

The protection of your privacy when processing personal data as well as the security of all personal data are important concerns for us. With this privacy policy, we inform you about what data we process from you, what we need this data for and how you can object to the data processing.

We collect, process and store personal data (incl. IP addresses) only in accordance with the statutory provisions or if you have given us your consent, for example in the context of a registration.

What personal data do we collect?

We only collect personal data that is related to our relationship with you. The data we collect includes, in particular, your contact details such as name, telephone number, address or e-mail address as well as other information, especially in connection with a funding application as well as the use of our website. In contrast, information that cannot be linked to your identity (e.g., statistical information on the number of users of our online service) is not considered personal data.

How do we collect personal data?

We generally collect personal information in the following instances: When you submit a grant application to our Foundation; when you visit our website; when you communicate directly with us; when you sign up for our newsletter or events; when you participate in a survey; or when you otherwise provide us with your personal data. In all cases, we will only process your personal data for the purpose that is specific and identifiable to you.

Do we share your personal information?

We will only pass on your personal data to other third parties if we are legally entitled to do so or if you have given us your consent to do so. This is the case, for example, when we conduct external project evaluations in agreement with you. Further information on this can be found in the funding agreement. If data is disclosed abroad, we ensure that we comply with the relevant legal requirements (guarantee of adequate protection).

External service providers who process data on our behalf are strictly bound by contract within the meaning of the Federal Data Protection Act. We have ensured that the external service providers are able to guarantee data security. They may only transfer the processing of personal data to a third party with our prior approval.

How long do we store your personal data?

We generally store your data for as long as our business relationship with you requires or we have a legitimate interest in continuing to store it. In all other cases, we delete your personal data with the exception of data that we must continue to store in order to fulfill legal obligations (e.g., we are required by law to retain documents such as contracts and invoices for a period of 10 years).

What data is processed when using our Internet pages?

In principle, you can visit our Internet pages without having to provide any personal information. When you visit our website, our servers temporarily store each access in a log file. The following technical data is recorded and stored by us until automatic deletion after seven months at the latest:

– IP address of the requesting computer
– Date and time of access
– Internet page from which the access was made, if necessary with the search word used
– name and URL of the accessed file
– search queries performed
– the operating system of your computer (provided by the user agent)
– the browser you are using (provided by the user agent)
– device type in case of accesses by cell phones
– transmission protocol used

The collection and processing of this data is used for system security and stability and for error and performance analysis as well as for internal statistical purposes and enables us to optimize our Internet offering. The IP address is also used to preset the language of the website. Finally, when you visit our website, we use cookies as well as applications and tools that are based on the use of cookies. You will find more details on this in the following chapter.

What are cookies and when are they used?

Cookies are small text files that are stored on your computer when you visit our website. If you call up the page again, your browser sends the content of the cookies back to us and thus enables recognition of the end device. The reading of cookies enables us to design our website optimally for you and to make it easier for you to use.

When you visit our website, you will be informed in a pop-up that cookies are set on our site and that you allow this by using the website.

If you decide not to allow cookies, you can deactivate and delete all cookies in your browser at any time. Please refer to the help functions of your browser for more information. However, deactivating cookies may mean that individual functions of our Internet pages are no longer available to you. If you use a different browser or terminal device, you will have to deactivate or delete them again.

It is also possible to manage and deactivate the use of cookies by third-party providers via the following website: http://www.youronlinechoices.com/de/ praferenzmanagement. This website is not operated by us, so we are not responsible for it and have no influence on its content and availability.

How are tracking tools used?

We need statistical information about the use of our online services (especially website and newsletter) in order to make them more user-friendly, to measure reach and to conduct market research. For this purpose, we use web analysis tools, in particular Google Analytics. The usage profiles created by these tools with the help of analysis cookies are not merged with personal data. The tools either do not use user IP addresses at all or truncate them immediately after collection.

In addition to the data listed above (see «What data is processed when you use our websites?»), we receive the following information as a result:

– Navigation path that a visitor follows on the website
– Time spent on the website or subpage
– Subpage on which the website is left
– Country, region or city from which access is made
– terminal device (type, version, color depth, resolution, width and height of browser window)
– returning or new visitor

The information is used to evaluate the use of the Internet pages. If you would like to deactivate Google Analytics, you can find the appropriate browser add-on at http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=de. As explained in the previous chapter, you can prevent the creation of usage profiles altogether by generally deactivating the use of cookies.

What rights do you have with regard to your personal data?

You have the following rights with regard to your personal data:

– You can request information about your stored personal data.
– You may request that your personal data be corrected, supplemented, blocked or deleted.
– If you have given us consent to process your data, you can revoke this consent at any time with effect for the future.

To exercise your rights, a letter by mail or e-mail is sufficient. See section Contact.

Data security

We use appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal data stored with us against manipulation, partial or complete loss and against unauthorized access by third parties. Our security measures are continuously improved in line with technological developments.

Amendment of this privacy policy

We reserve the right to amend and supplement this statement at any time at our sole discretion and in accordance with data protection legislation. Please consult this statement regularly.
